In my OPINION…

John McCain

February 4, 2008 · 5 Comments

CNN has reported that Mitt Romney won the Maine caucuses with 52%. Since conservative Republicans are split between Mitt Romney and Mike Huckabee, John McCain will have a good chance to win delegates Tuesday. People predict that McCain is expected to get less than half the vote but will get all the delegates due to the Republican party’s winner-take-all rules, which were designed to produce precisely this effect–an early nominee. However, it would be difficult to get this effect happen in 2008. Although McCain is popular among independents, there are so many conservatives who strongly opposed to McCain due to his stands on tax cuts(against), gay marriage amendment(against), illegal immigrants(allow them to become citizens),stem cell research(for), and other hot-button issues.

It is interesting that we have this situation with the Repuclicans. Why does McCain differ on these political issues and how do you think this is going to affect the Republican turn out during the election?

Great article very informitive. You bring up an interesting point on how the Republican party picks their nominee. Do you agree with this system. Also you point out where McCain sands on certian topics how do you feel about his position? do you agree with him or side with another person running?

It hurts to hear of young lives lost like this. When I was young, my best friends sister died in a car accident. Her school (a public school) went to commemorate her life with a memorial at the school. Since then, however, the school says that they will have no more memorials (hers being the last). This I do not agree with- I feel that if a tragedy should strike a member of a community, such as these students who died on the bus, they should not be forgotten, and I feel that memorials only help their families know that the memory of their children is being cherished.

Great article and very well written. I do think there is any rules during the campaign any more. Every candidate is fighting for every vote. Do you agree with McCain? How do you feel about the system?

It is always sad when young people die or get injured. Sometimes we do not control what is going to happened, but safety, especially around kids, should be priority. Do you think there is a way to make people realize how dangerous roads could be. I lost my good friend in a car accident and I do not want nobody to go through that.
